Readette

Privacy policy

Last updated 27 October 2026.

The short version

Readette has no account, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics, and the developer receives no data. It uses the network only to ask the public sources you have switched on and to load a page you open.

What stays on your device

Your settings (which sources are on, the reading choice, the keyboard shortcut) are stored only on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. The link or title you type is processed on your device; nothing is saved to a server because Readette has none.

When Readette uses the network

Readette is a network client only. It connects for these things and no others:

The link you paste is taken apart on your device to read its title and is never fetched by a search. Readette does not remove paywalls and does not copy or store articles.

The sources are run by other parties (Algolia for Hacker News search, Substack and GitHub), and they receive the request the way any website does, including your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply to what they do with it.

No account, no identifiers

There is no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising identifier and no API key. Readette asks for no permission such as location, microphone, camera or contacts.

Sharing the list

Copy list and Share list put the free reads into a short text that you send yourself, with the app or share sheet you choose. Readette does not send it anywhere on its own.

Children

Readette collects nothing from anyone, including children.
